Beulah barber and biking enthusiast Steve Radionoff gave us his perspective on the event described by Ernest Hemingway as the top sporting event in the world.

A former bike shop owner and dedicated biker himself, Steve described the grueling biking event that he has followed for many years. Bikers participating in the Tour de France cover more than 100 miles a day for 23 days, averaging more than 25 miles of hour. In its 100-plus years the Tour has developed a number of traditions, including special jerseys for riders in different categories. The overall leader ((lowest cumulative time) wears the yellow jersey, while the leader in points (achieved in sprints) dons the green jersey. The king of the mountains gets the polka dot shirt, and the best young rider is awarded the white jersey. Steve considers the riders in this event as among the best athletes in the world.
