Jon Hawley, President of the Friends of Point Betsie Lighthouse, hosted our club for a discussion and tour of the restored Point Betsie Light Station.
Through the support of the State of Michigan, Rotary Charities of Traverse City, Frankfort Rotary Club's Centennial project, Michigan's Lighthouse Assistance Program and the "Save America's Treasures" award, the entire light station complex has been restored.  Future projects include the development of professionally designed exhibits to better acquaint visitors with Point Betsie’s history and dune-based ecology, improved parking, and construction of an entry building to replace the gift shop’s temporary location.

Club members had the opportunity to tour the lighthouse's cozy new apartment and view the end of WWII Lighthouse Tender gifted to the Point Betsie Lighthouse by the Great Lakes Boat Building School.  The Point Betsie Light Station is definitely a premier attraction in Benzie County!
