Our scheduled speaker, Sierra Clark, who was to talk on the topic of Our Anishinaabek Neighbors, needed to cancel for health reasons.  She will be rescheduled for late-January or early-February.  In her place, we viewed a TEDx talk by Shawn Achor  Shawn Achor: The happy secret to better work | TED Talk
Shawn Achor is a Harvard psychologist whose research has been on the topic of happiness.  In this TEDx talk, The Happy Secret to Better Work, Shawn explains that we believe we should work hard in order to be happy, but asks the question could we be thinking about things backwards?  In this fast-moving and very funny talk, Shawn argues that, actually, happiness inspires us to be more productive.  He suggests that to create lasting positive change we consider five changes that ripple outward:  each day consider three gratitudes, journal on them, exercise, meditation, and practicing random acts of kindness.  After the 12-minute TED talk, Terry Taylor led us in a lively discussion.
