Jessica Gardner, member of the Friends of the Benzie Bus, which is seeking a millage increase in August.
Jessica explained that Benzie Bus has expanded its services, even though its costs have increased. Millage plays an important role in financing bus operations, and the proposed increase would go from a rate of .5 mills to a new rate of 1.0 mills. For the average Benzie County taxpayer this would amount to only 37cents a day.
