Sarah Meyers, a free lance writer, analyst and security consultant, provided an expert's analysis on the ever-changing political climate in the Middle East.

Dr. Meyers believes that the "Arab Spring" uprisings in Libya, Yemen and Syria constitute the most important political development in the Middle East since the 1960's. Noting the important role played by modern technology and social networking in these movements, she views the uprisings as a major step forward for democracy in the region. Now people in the area can focus on change within their countries rather than on al-Qaeda and terrorism. This should provide an opportunity to bring the Middle East into civil society.

Dr. Meyers also discussed the effect of Osama bin Laden's death, as well as America's proper role in the Middle East. She concluded her excellent presentation by fielding a variety of questions from a very interested audience.
