Michelle Russell with Hunter Steinkamp, Executive Director of the Crystal Community Ski Club's Nordic Rocks program, recipient of a recent Rotary District Grant.

Crystal Community Ski Club (CCSC), is a non-profit organization where snow sports become a gateway to building a stronger community, nurturing physical and mental well-being, and fostering a lifelong passion for the great outdoors. Founded in 2018, CCSC offers a variety of core Alpine, Nordic and Teen Leadership programs for beginners to elite athletes from ages 7-18.

In its Nordic Rocks program the club, with the help of teachers and administrators, partners with elementary schools to teach kids cross country skiing in four sessions at Crystal Mountain.  Nordic Rocks works with all the elementary schools in Benzie County and will reach more than 700 students this winter.  Its goal is to get kids outside involved in a healthy life-long activity.

Nordic Rocks is always looking for volunteers, and information about volunteering is available on the club's website.
