Today Benzie Central Superintendent Aimee Erfourth gave us an update on the bond projects at the Benzie Central Schools.
In her PowerPoint presentation Aimee discussed the bond projects under way at the Benzie Central Schools for 2022 and 2023. This year's projects include locker room upgrades, as well as three new classrooms and a new roof at Lake Ann. There also will be a cafeteria remodel and technology upgrades.
Bond projects in 2023 include new floors at MS/HS and numerous improvements at Betsie Valley. Work on the projects has been delayed by several factors, including an increase of 30-50% in the cost of supplies. As a result, the District is not yet to the half-way point in construction.
COVID-19 has had a detrimental effect on the District's effort to have all students feel that they belong, with some students having essentially dropped out for the time of the pandemic. In addition to academic goals the District's Strategic Plan includes a focus on attendance and an improved community relationship.
