Megan Garza provided an update on The Maples, a county-owned nonprofit Medicare and Medicaid skilled nursing facility in Frankfort.
At the Maples registered nurses and certified nursing assistants are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing residents with high quality care. The 78-bed facility provides long-term care, skilled nursing care and rehab therapy along with numerous activities in the community.
The Maples is owned by Benzie County, serving Benzie County residents with 62 private rooms and 16 semi-private rooms. Unlike private facilities, the goal of the Maples is to serve its residents rather than to make a profit. Activities for the residents include Joy to Ride, Pie Day, Slip N Slide, annual Candle Light Dinner and Western Day.
The Maples implements the dementia-focused Positive Approach to Care and is gearing toward being the first fully designated PAC program in Northern Michigan. We are fortunate indeed to have The Maples in our midst.
