Club Member Shaun Anchak shared his experiences as a volunteer crew member onboard the Tall Ship Madeline.

Shaun has been involved with the Maritime Heritage Alliance and the Tall Ship Madeline for a number of years.  The Maritime Heritage Alliance is a non-profit organization who's mission is to preserve, share and interpret the maritime heritage of the Great Lakes.  The organization conducts educational activities designed to instill appreciation of maritime heritage; teaches maritime history and preserves traditional maritime skills; restores and constructs replicas representative of indigenous boats; seeks and develops sources of maritime skills and creates opportunities to revive and perpetuate them; develops alliances with similar organizations in the region for the purpose of education and receives and administers funds.

Shaun was a crew member on a week-long excursion aboard the Tall Ship Madeline from July 4th through July 11th, 2015.  Shaun and 8 other crew members sailed from Algonac, Michigan to Fairport Ohio.   Shaun shared some great pictures and stories from the adventure which included freighters steaming by as well as the beauty of the great lakes from the vantage point of a tall ship.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities with the Maritime Heritage Alliance, if you would like to know more talk with Shaun.
