When Kay Leers first spoke to the Club in 2017, Remain in Touch was new to Benzie County.  She returned today to give us an update on the program that helps incarcerated parents stay in touch with their children.

Remain in Touch is a nonprofit based in Suttons Bay that sends representatives to local jails to permit incarcerated adults to read from books for their children.  The books and recordings are then sent to the children (or grandchildren).

In Benzie County the contacts from Remain in Touch are made by three volunteers every other Tuesday.  The program has had great support from the Sheriff and jail staff.  The experience has been heatwarming for both the participants and the volunteers.

More information about this very worthwhile program is available on the Remain in Touch website.
