Using several props--including a three-legged stool--DG Al Bonney urged us to attract new members and build our Club.

Accompanied by his wife Joan, Al said he was happy to return to our Club. The three legs of his three-legged stool analogy were:
  • Be important to our customers (the clients we serve)
  • Have a robust PR program
  • Do everything possible to become more attractive to potential members.
As an example of an effective PR program, Al told of a joint ad campaign done by the three Traverse City clubs that had yielded 17 new members, most under 40. This was done with the help of District funds, and Al stressed the leveraging possible for clubs seeking help with their service projects.

With regard to becoming more attractive, Al noted that the District has an excellent Vision Facilitation program. He also urged us to consider the Rotary Foundation in our charitable giving.

The program concluded with a group photo at the Beulah Trailhead, a Centennial project of Sunrise Rotary.
