A flight nurse with North Flight who became an executive, Sue Boyko told us about Munson's EMS subsidiary that provides regional access to critical care.

Seeing a need in northern Michigan for emergency medical service by air, Munson began operating North Flight EMS in 1986 with one helicopter. Now the company has 15 ambulances, 1 helicopter, 1 fixed-wing airplane and 130 employees.

North Flight has been accredited since 1995 and provides a variety of services within northern Michigan and beyond. Such service is particularly important within lightly populated areas that may be miles from a trauma center.

While no one knows what the future holds for health care, Sue says that North Flight is nimble enough to continue providing the highest level of emergency medical service. (Click on picture for a larger view.)
