Alison Metiva, Chief Operating Officer at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation (gtrcf), gave us a PowerPoint presentation about her organization.
The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation was established in 1992 with support from Rotary Charities and the Kellogg Foundation. The region it serves includes Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau Counties, plus the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians. The mission of the Foundation is to invest in the people and places of its region and steward community assets for lasting impact. Its vision is a region of healthy, resilient, thriving communities for all.
The way that giving through the Foundation works is as follows: People or organizations give money to the Foundation, which invests the funds and awards grants and scholarship, and the community thrives. The ways to give include donor-advised funds with a specific impact area or organization.
The Foundation believes that integrating diversity, equity and inclusion is needed to achieve healthy, resilient and thriving communities for all.
At the conclusion of the program we were reminded that the Rotary Endowment at the Foundation provides a $! for $1 match for gifts by individual Rotarians to eligible nonprofits in our five-county region, up to $250 annually.
