Rebecca Garland is the Executive Director of Conflict Resolution Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers mediation services in a variety of contexts.

Formed in 1990, CRS offers voluntary mediation to individuals, families and organizations. In recent years CRS has provided service in collaboration with the 13th Judicial Circuit.  A 2000 grant from Rotary Charities helped the group move to a new location complete with offices, meeting rooms and a connected space for training.

CRS generally provides co-mediators at a cost of $75 per party, although this administrative fee may be partially or completely waived. Some situations susceptible to mediation include marital disputes and end-of-life family issues, as well as disputes between co-workers. Mediation may also work with community issues, such as proposed safe-harbor shelters.  In 2013 CRS mediated some 250 disputes.

In addition to training mediators CRS provides trains public schools to prevent bullying.  Since 2013 CRS has provided such training throughout the Traverse Bay Intermediate School District and beyond.
