Diane Tracy is the President of the Board of Directors of the Benzie Aquatic Center, a 501(c)(3) looking into the construction of an aquatic and fitness center in Benzie County.

The ultimate goal of Diane's organization is to provide a center in Benzie County that would include not only several swimming pools, but also facilities for fitness, therapy and recreational programs.

At this point the group is in Phase II of a feasibility study addressing such questions as:
  • Does Benzie Count need a pool?
  • What programs will it have?
  • What will it cost to build, to run and to use?
  • Can the population support it?
  • Where can they find staff?
  • Where will it be located?
The group envisions a facility that would have several separate pools, including an 8-lane main pool and a 4-lane warm water therapy pool.  There would be full use of locker rooms, as well as ramped access. The lobby and meeting rooms would be available for community meetings. The center would include full fitness facilities, including an indoor track, a full-size gym and workout equipment.

The ultimate goals and objectives of the project are to:
  • Provide an aquatic facility for the entire community that would include fitness, therapy and recreational programs for participants of all ages
  • Teach members of the community how to swim and acquire water safety skills
  • Create new youth and adult training and competitive sports
  • Develop parnerships
  • Ensure accessibility for all residents, regardless of their age, economic situation or abilities
  • Create a business model to ensure viability and sustainability of the financial operations
With her background of financial devopment at the University of Michigan, Diane Tracy is well equipped to undertake this ambitious project.
