Today Matt Rush and Diane Tracy gave us an update on the Benzie Aquatic and Fitness Center Project.  Matt is Board Advisor, while Diane is President of the Board.
Diane gave a brief summary of the history of the project, starting with Phase 1 in 2019, Phase 2 set to go in February of 2020, delayed by COVID and then going again last fall.  The Board concluded was that it was not enough to think of a stand-alone aquatic center.  Instead the Board's concept is of an integrated wellness facility.

Matt has experience with a similar community project in Charlotte.  The Advisory Board is contacting prospective partners for the endeavor who will become stakeholders with a sense of ownership in the project.

The Board is working with an architect, and story boards have been created (with the help of Rotary).  Admittedly this is a very ambitous project, with a prospective price tag of $22 Million.  Diane's slide show is available here.
