Part of the Rotary team with Principal Dave Clasen at the training session at Benzie Central Middle School.
During the weeks of November 7 and 14, members of the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club went into 8th grade classrooms at Benzie Central Middle School and conducted workshops developed by the CHOICES Education Group. The goal of the program is to empower teens to achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations.   In two hour-long sessions Rotarians took the students through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management, and goal setting.  The CHOICES workshops showed the students how the choices they make now will affect their entire lives, with self discipline being the factor critical to their success.  The students learned that “I am not what happened to me . . .  I am what I choose to become.”   The Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club and the Benzie Central Middle School administration plan to continue their partnership and hope to make the CHOICES workshops an integral part of the 8th grade learning experience at the school
