Josh Stoltz, Site Coordinator for SEEDS at Benzie Central, explained how SEEDS became involved with the construction of a trike that is being used as a fundraiser for Grant Traverse Rotary's Wheels of Hope program.
Formed in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, SEEDS provides after-school academic and cultural enrichment programs at select schools--including Benzie Central and Frankfort-Elberta. After-school activities include everything from fishing and cooking to one-on-one tutoring. Programs are designed to supplelment traditional teaching methods, with an emphasis on making learning hands-on and fun. Some SEEDS after-school participants are offered an opportunity to become part of SEEDS' Youth Conservation Corps, which provides learning through service.
