Mike Zielinski is trying to bring back industrial arts at Benzie Central.

A longtime member of the Benzie Central staff, Mike says that many high school students need a career path. While there is a demand for skilled labor, Benzie Central and most other high schools have virtually eliminated their industrial arts programs.

Mike is looking for help setting up an after-school program for kids to attend for two hours, twice a week. His idea is to have the students construct wooden boxes for local beekeepers--both professionals and hobbyists. Part of the plan is to have those in the community provide scholarships for the students to attend college or trade schools following their graduation from high school.

In the Q&A period that followed the presentation Club members offered Mike encouragement and suggestions for his new venture. (Click on picture for a larger view.)
