Michelle Russell  told us all about the "Pathways for Benzie Youth" grant of $2,500 that we received from the Consumers Energy Foundation.

The grant was the brain child of our late fellow member Tim Krause.  He envisioned creating opportunities for Benzie County students to pursue new pathways that would enable them to create the lives that they wanted for themselves.  After Tim's untimely death Michelle and Kris Thomas completed and filed the grant application with the Consumers Energy Foundation.  This past May they were pleased to learn that the Foundation had come through with a $2,500 grant.

Michelle reviewed what the Club is presently doing for Benzie Central Elementary, Middle School and High School students.  She also talked about future pathways we could create, including--
  • An internship program for STRIVE students
  • Taking STRIVE to the next level
  • Redesigning our scholarship program.
Members had several additional suggestions about implementing an internship program and otherwise.  Once we implement the grant we will report back to Consumers and publicize what we have done with the generous grant.
