Linda Sommerville,  CFS's Director of Donor Relations, described the many sevices that this non-profit provides to children and families.
Once a branch of the Michigan Children’s Aid Society, CFS of Northwestern Michigan has been strengthening the fabric of the families in our area since 1937. Linda highlighted several of her organization's services, including adoption, foster care and supervised visitation and exchange for families going through divorce.

One of CFS's successful program is its Elements Independent Living Program. The goal of the program is to assist youth in the transition from out-of-home placement to self sufficiency. Linda proudly announced that all nine participants in the program received high school diplomas last week and had plans for further education or employment.

Elements is one of several programs of this 301(c)(3) organization that are funded completely by donations.  In this regard there are several upcoming fundraisers, including a popular annual golf outing on September 10 at the Kingsley Club.
