Bianca McLaren, Coach of the Benzie Central Odyssey of the Mind Team, returned to report on how the team did at the recent world competition in East Lansing.

Accompanied by son Connor and team member Jared Case and his father Matt, Bianca gave us the good news:  the Benzie Central Team finished 13th out of the 64 teams in its division!  The team was able to reach the top level of competition by placing 1st in its region in Traverse City and tying for 1st in the state competition.  But qualifying was only part of the challenge; the team also had to raise $6,000 to $7,000 to pay for the multiple-day competition at Michigan State.

Team members stayed in a dorm at MSU--getting a taste of campus life--and they also were able to meet kids from all over the world.  Like Rotary Exchange students, they enjoyed trading and collecting pins from their new friends.  Fine ambassadors for Benzie County, the OM Team also helped out Sunrise Rotary on our recent Bike Benzie:  A Ride to Remember Tim Krause.
