A Visit to BACN

Founded by area churches as Benzie Area Christian Neighbors, BACN originally operated out of a small house across US-31.  In May of 2009 BACN moved to its present building, which houses a food pantry, as well as rooms for clothing and household items, the WOW program, GED classes and a computer lab.  Those who obtain food or services from BACN are considered neighbors rather than clients.

 

Serving Benzie County and the northern part of Manistee County, BACN has four full-time and three part-time employees, as well as 125 volunteers.  While this sounds like a lot of volunteers, BACN can always use more. Its hours are from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. In addition to providing food and household items, BACN can help neighbors with utilities, housing, transportation and medical and dental needs.
